First mentioned by the Chinese of Pen Tsao Ching in the year 25 BCE, it wasn’t until 1936 that Japanese researchers successfully extracted « diosgenin », an active principle, from Dioscorea villosa. Diosgenin is remarkably identical to several human hormones, including progesterone. Dioscorea Gel is indicated for menopause, hormonal deficiencies, p.m.s., depression, excessive sweating, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, insomnia, osteoporosis, mammary fibroblasts, thyroid dysfunction, endometriosis, decreased libido, etc.
Indicated for symptoms related to a reduction in the production of estrogen and progesterone hormones occurring during menopause. In these instances, Dioscorea villosa will act as a hormonal harmonizer.
